Active living helps your family enjoy life. Moving more boosts energy and promotes sound sleep. And it is a lifelong way for you and your child to stay healthy and keep a healthy weight. In fact, active living lowers the chances of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease – for you and your child.
Cold weather offers great ways to have family fun. Take time to play together – and move more. You will all feel good! As an adult, you need at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most days. Your child needs at least 60 minutes of physical activity on most, preferably all, days of the week.
When the weather is warm, play outside together! You do not need to spend money to fit active fun into your family life.

There are a lot of ways to get the physical activity you need! If you’re thinking, “How can I meet the Guidelines each week?” don’t worry. You’ll be surprised by the variety of activities you have to choose from.
Regular physical activity may help you reach and maintain a healthy weight. Being physically active may also make you more energetic, improve your mood, and reduce the risk of developing some chronic diseases.
